2 kids, 2 parents, 1 dog...

1 big truck, 1 car trailer, 1 canoe on top, inumerable boxes...

We can't thank our friends and family enough for all the effort to help bring us to our new home. We've already hiked the creek trail, & played all over the new house.

I'm in McDonalds with playland & Wifi to make our internet connection happen.

Internet connection without cable television. It's available, but I'm really, really not going to hook it up. Deep breath. Till football season. I promised Eric in 3 months we'd hook it up. But in exchange I had to promise him I'd do P90X for 3 months. Will it be worth it? Time will tell. But I believe so.

I've got my garden guide going as I mentioned I'd be following from Mother Earth News. Can you see the beds outside the screen porch window? They're just calling my name. First things first tho.....seeds & a washer & dryer. Any suggestions on washer & dryer? I think high efficiency is our route. I've been a nay-sayer, but I'm beginning to see the point. And these will have to last us a while.

I just stopped by from Annesta's page. What a neat enclosed porch! I love that! I can testify that you can indeed make it without television. My husband and I made the leap to no TV with the digital switch. We didn't have a digital TV at the time and we didn't get cable or a converter box. It has been such a blessings and changed our lives in many positive ways to not have the TV.~ Blessings!

I'm with Stephani...love your porch! The view is lovely. I can imagine sitting on your porch reading and drinking a cup of tea or coffee in the morning...or anytime!
I am glad that you are moved and think your resolve to not have TV is lovely. Stick to your guns!

Laura, first let me comment on how awesome that screened porch is! I'd just move my whole house into that one room and stay! LOVE IT!

Second, I had no clue what a P90X is. Had to google it. So are you two starting your own boot camp? Whew! I'm not that young anymore! I exercise so I can do what I need to do, but not sure I could pull off the P90X workout!

W/D - LOVE my Kenmore HE washer and dryer except for one thing - you need to leave the washer door open when you're done so it can air out and not build up mildew inside - and I live in an arid place; you're in the deep south where it's humid. Take into account that you MUST do this on the HE washers so you're not disappointed. (I liked the large opening on the Kenmore - you can actually get inside to get stuff out; the others had tiny openings.)

I;m cutting off the TV by June 1st. Just waiting for the NBA finals to be over so my husband isn't stranded part way through. This step will be big for us, but we are playing a HUGE sum just to watch an occasional game and Glenn Beck.

Sorry, I'm so chatty - missed you! Can't wait to see more of the new place!

Laura,

Welcome back to Georgia! I love the metal swing chairs. Did they come with the house?

I have planted red bell pepper, roma tomatoes, sweet basil, summer squash and zucchini. Can't wait to have a great salad from the garden!

What city are you all actually in? So glad you are getting settled, now get out there and plant before it is too late!

Love ya!
Anne

I have the HE washer and dryer, and yes you must leave the door of the washer ajar when it is not in use, or it will get smelly! But, it washes and dries so many more clothes than the regular sized ones. Also you must use the HE detergent, not your regular powder. I made the mistake of using my regular old tide powder (to save money, I thought), and after a year or so, my washer broke. The repairman said it was the tide! He said that he has fixed so many washers for ladies who used the wrong detergent. I think it clogged up some sort of filter or something, I don't' remember. So any savings I had simply went out the window after I paid the repairman! He recommended HE detergent only, and he said to use the smallest amount possible!

Are you going to be able to get internet? We live in the country and neither DSL or cable is available. We had to get satellite internet.

I hope you love your new home!

Ditto on the porch -- lovely! Congratulations on your move. I'm sure life is crazy for you, so I'll be praying for you. I also love my Kenmore HE washer and dryer; in fact, I need to go visit them now to change loads. ; )
