Jack & Eric have been working on their pinewood derby car since Christmas.
This is 1 of 4 of the dens represented at this meeting.
This is just the Tiger Cubs.
Jack is on the front row, wearing blue jeans & cap.
There were some really nice rides, that all had to meet
specific details for the race.
Best paint job was only 1 of the categories for competition.
But weight specifics were important, couldn't weigh more than 5 oz.
Jack's was a sweet ride. He won all of his heats. An 2nd place over all in his den.
A memory we'll cherish.

I've had my Pinewood Derby post half written for a few weeks now, so I need to get that done. : )
Congrats on the fast car! Want to share some tips? (my son's car is never very fast)
We noticed the shape of the cars was worth considering. The lego car, cute as it is wasn't a big speed winner. But the flat 'Saint's car was similar in shape, flat, to some of the winners. Also, weighting the car to be heavy, up to the very limit. My husband made several trips to the post office to make sure it was up to the maximum weight without going over. He didn't attach them to the bottom, but drilled small holes & inserted the weights equally distributing the additional weight. We'll see how he does in the finals!
My cousin's troop does this and they said they have tested these cars for speed... I believe he said they were going over 100 mph and that the winner this year went over 200 mph!! I had no clue.
What precious Daddy/Son memories!!! Love it!! CONGRATS Jack (and Eric) on a winning car!!!!! WHOOHOOOO!!!
I absolutely loved this post. With three sons we were extremely active in scouting when they were young. Now they are young men on their own and the numerous cars are still here at home. Whenever I see them I relive the cherished memories of the winning cars, the losing cars, and the memories made with their dad.
